About Us

Location & Times

Central Christian Church is located at 903 S. Main Street (HWY 231), in Huntingburg, IN.

Worship Service is on Sundays at 10:00am EST, with Sunday School starting at 9:00am.

What to Expect

Our worship services include lively, contemporary Christian music led by our praise band, followed by an inspiring and challenging Christian message from the minister. We would be excited to have you join our worship service. Here are some brief descriptions regarding what you can expect during our service. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

  • For those with Children: We have supervised nursery and children’s programs that offer Christ-centered teaching and activities in a fun and caring atmosphere. Greeters at the door and Welcome Center will be happy to assist you in taking your children to their classrooms.
  • Communion: We partake in communion each Sunday, just as the early church practiced. It is a time when believers remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for our sin. We invite all Christians to partake of the emblems as they are passed, or hold them and take when you are ready. Containers are available in the chair rack on the seat in front of you for your cup.
  • Offering: We include an offering as part of our service to give our members and friends the opportunity to support the work of the church and to thank God for His blessings. Giving is optional for our guests, but if you wish to join us in worshipping that way, you are welcome to do so.
  • Decisions: We offer an invitation to become a Christian, or become a member of Central, at the end of each worship service. Becoming a Christian involves believing that Jesus is God’s Son and that He died on the cross and rose from the grave to offer forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life; confessing that belief to others; repenting or turning away from sin and living for God, and being baptized in water. We practice baptism by full immersion which was the Biblical practice. If you have already taken each of these steps and would like to become a member of Central Christian Church, you can do that simply by re-affirming your faith in Christ at the direction of the minister.

What We Believe

About God: There is one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and each possesses all of the attributes of God. God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it.
Matthew 5:16, 46, 6:1, 4, 8, 9; James 1:17, 14:9; Genesis 1:2; John 4:24, 14:16-20; 2 Peter 1:21

About Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the only Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for all sin, and was raised from the grave after three days to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return again to earth to reign as our powerful King.
John 1:14; 1 John 4:9; John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:18,

About the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is one with God the Father and Jesus Christ. Those who accept Christ as their Savior will receive the Holy Spirit to live inside them. The Holy Spirit serves as our comforter, guide, and advocate. The Holy Spirit indwells Christians-providing guidance in living, understanding in Biblical truth, and prayers before the Father.
John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19; 2 Timothy 1:14; Acts 2:38; 1 John 4:13; Ephesians 1:13-14

About the Bible: Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our final authority on Christian beliefs and as a guide to living. The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love.
Mark 12:36; John 14:26, 16:12-15; Acts 1:16, 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21, Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18, 24:35; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12

About Humanity: All people are made in the image of God and were created to live the adventure of following Christ Jesus. Although people have tremendous potential for good, we also have the freedom to do evil. Our disobedience toward God is called “sin” and that separates all humanity from God.
Genesis 1-3, Acts 4:12; Romans 1-2, 3:23; John 14:6; 1 John 5:11-12

About Salvation: Salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith. It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. That faith is expressed through belief in Jesus Christ, repentance of sin, confession of Christ’s Lordship, and baptism by immersion.
Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:1-11, 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-10; Hebrew 10:19-22; 1 Peter 1:18, 19; 1 John 1:7; Romans 3:23; Titus 3:3-7; Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9-10; Luke 24:45-47; Acts 3:19, 17:30; Romans 10:11-13; Philippians 2:11; Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-4

About Eternity: People were created to exist forever. Every person will either exist eternally in union with God in heaven through following Jesus Christ or eternally separated from God in hell due to our refusal to follow Him.
Psalm 16:11, John 14:1-3, Philippians 3:20-21, Revelation 21, Daniel 12:2, Matthew 5:22, Matthew 10:28, Mark 9:44, Luke 16:19-26, 2 Thessalonians 1:9, Revelation 20:9-15

Our Story

Central Christian Church began with 33 charter members in October, 1909. Our first church building, at the corner of 6th and Main, was dedicated on April 30, 1911. Major improvements were made to the building and dedicated on July 19, 1949. More renovations and beautification took place and were dedicated in May, 1983. In 2004 the congregation built all new facilities on 10 acres of land on Main Street at the south edge of town. New facilities, including a 400-seat sanctuary, a full-size gym, kitchen, classrooms, and offices were dedicated on December 5, 2004.

That is the history of Central Christian Church in terms of facilities, but the real history of the church is the story of its people – the faithful pioneers who first launched the church in 1909; the dedicated ministers, elders, deacons, Sunday school teachers, youth workers, and countless other members who served sacrificially in so many ways for more than 100 years, enabling Central to be a lighthouse in this community showing people the way to salvation in Christ Jesus. It is the story of souls saved and lives transformed by the power of God’s love. And that story is still being written.

In 2009, Central Christian Church celebrated its 100th anniversary! We praise God for all that He has done through this church in all those years. Yet, our focus now is not on the past, but the future. We are excited as we think of what we believe God wants to do through us in the years to come. If it is God’s will, we would love to have you join hands with us and be a part of that exciting future.
